Québec Posts Second Consecutive Increase in Sales in July

The 5,249 MLS® sales transactions that took place in the province of Québec in July 2011 represent a 2 per cent increase compared to the same period last year and the second consecutive monthly increase in sales. The 4 per cent increase in sales that was posted in June put an end to the downward trend that had lasted for 13 months. However, July’s results were very different from one geographic area to another. The Montréal Metropolitan Area led the way with a 6 per cent increase in sales. Sales remained stable (0 per cent) in the Gatineau Metropolitan Area, while they decreased in the other Metropolitan Areas (-3 per cent in Saguenay, -5 per cent in Québec City, -9 per cent in Sherbrooke and -11 per cent in Trois-Rivières).
